Soho Hotel is an elegant WordPress theme on sale from ThemeForest. It is specifically designed as a hotel booking theme, and has a complete reservation system built in, along with PayPal integration to handle the payment of deposits.
Soho Hotel is fully responsive for effective display on mobile devices. The theme comes with a selection of four preset colour schemes, but it’s also possible to create new schemes for extra individuality. That said, most users will probably be quite happy sticking with the standard settings and counting on their own photography for individuality.
The Soho theme also has a very attractive (if rather simple) blog layout. While Soho Hotel does nothing revolutionary, it is one of the most attractive “off the shelf” hotel themes we’ve seen.
Resident Designer’s Opinion
“Soho Hotel really looks the part: It genuinely paints the picture of an upscale boutique hotel. All anyone need do is add some good photographs and everything’s ready to go.
The fact it comes with its own booking system is great too. Most hotels will also market rooms via large travel websites, and some may need to consider integration, but smaller hotels may choose to use this as the main place to store their booking data.
The only slight negative is that it’s not really possible to do much customisation to make the theme your own – so you really must ensure you have top quality photographs to include.”
Soho Hotel has a choice of five attractive homepage layouts. They are all very elegant, but they don’t differ tremendously from each other.
It’s primarily the elements at the foot of the page that shuffle around when you choose a different layout. The bottom of the fourth homepage layout (shown below), gives prominence to testimonials, blog posts and events. Others focus on different things, such as social networking feeds.
The reservation system is wonderfully clean and simple:
At the back end of the theme, there are plenty of options to configure how the booking system works, but they’re all self-explanatory.
We were rather taken with the blog layout on this theme, which is certainly a case of “less is more.” As you can see from the screenshot, there’s still quick access to reservations and contact details while people are browsing blog posts.
The selection of short codes included with Soho Hotel is small, but covers all the major bases. We rather liked these colourful notification messages that would look very at home when displayed on a tablet device.
The contact page is understated and elegant. As with all the key pages, you can opt to place the sidebar on the left or the right.

A standard single-site licence for the Soho Hotel theme retails at $45 on ThemeForest. An extended license is also on offer for $2250.
This is good value when you take into account you are getting a basic reservations database as well. Larger hotels will probably outgrow the booking system pretty fast, but smaller boutique properties can bag themselves a bargain.
Soho Hotel is a theme that sets out to achieve a clear purpose, and it does so very well. This isn’t an all singing, all dancing, multipurpose theme – it’s designed for a niche market.
You can see from the features list that the functionality is basic, but that’s hardly the point. This theme can provide a hotel with a world-class Web presence with the simple addition of some good quality photos.
We’d like to see the theme made retina ready, but that feature may well appear in a future update. Even so, it already looks very attractive on mobile devices. Highly recommended.
